Very, very interesting premise. I was immediately hooked into the idea of the Link, which supposedly links everyone together, keeps order, and provides safety. It's all thanks to a little chip inserted in the neck. Too bad Zoe's doesn't function right. She's considered anomalous, but no one knows. She's now capable of individual thoughts and emotion, something considered to be extremely dangerous in Community. Strong emotion was the reason for the destruction of the planet, or at least that's what those in charge claim. I really appreciated how we got some of the history and the truth of the matter near the beginning, so there's not a lot of wondering how things happened and why they are the way they are. We're in Zoe's head a lot in Glitch. Of course, she's our narrator, but really we're stuck in her head a bit too much. I understand that she's experiencing emotions and her own thoughts for the first time ever, but I really would have liked to see more of the time when she's still connected to the Link. It would have been nice to be able to contrast the monotonous life that's created for the "subjects" in Community with Zoe's new found independence.
Another thing that really bothered me in this book was Adrien. There's not wrong with him as a character, but I absolutely hated the slang he used. It was extremely annoying, especially since he used it almost every single time he spoke. And he talks a lot. I also didn't find the romance believable at all, since it happened way too early. This was a pretty extreme case of insta-love, since he's the first boy Zoe ever interacted with who wasn't a drone. It also happened the same day that they first met. Yes, Zoe doesn't have a hold on her emotions yet, but I do not believe she could have had true feelings for him so immediately.
There is also an extremely bizarre love triangle, if it can even be called that. It's strange, but I loved it! Teenage hormones are raging, and they don't know how to control the emotions that come along with it. It's a bumpy ride as they try to navigate these new feelings that they don't even have words for. I don't want to spoil anything, but I had to mention it. I think the author did a great job of showing the awkwardness between those two.
Despite my complaints, I did really enjoy this one. I love when there's a supernatural aspect mixed into the dystopian setting. The ending of this one is super fast paced and action packed. Nothing is what it seems, and no one can truly be trusted. It does end on a cliffhanger, so I'll be eagerly anticipating the sequel!

Glitch A Glitch Novel Heather Anastasiu Books Reviews
I thought this book was mind blowing good!! At first when i started i had to see what kind of world that was created and try to get a feel for it-dystopian..As it turns out main character, Zoel or Zoe starts to glitch she is feeling things she knows she shouldnt be and seeing things that are not black-grayish.. Knowing glitching means she is an anomaly she must stay hidden and keep a blank face as the other people who all live underground. The community has told them that there was a Destruction Day and the outside world was destroyed and filled with toxins in the air.So everybody lives underground in tunnels and such.. Along the way she finds out that one her classmates is also a glitcher- Max and another boy Adrien-who all with gifts including Zoe.
i liked the main character and thought she was a very strong, smart girl. Adrien i liked too but had some odd talking vocabulary (which i caught myself saying something with crackin in it)..but Max urgghh i hated everything he said and did..he was jealous, selfish and seemed angry all the time.. As this book progressed through i was pulled into and left mind blown-explosive twists and turns and was left dying to read the next book!!!!
Glitch tells the story of Zoe. Zoe lives in the Community, a place that consists of people living with the VChip. The VChip takes away all emotions and connects the person into a Community Network called the "Link." Everyone is connected and is programmed to report anything out of the ordinary (anomalous), which could be as little as someone that knocks something over and reacts. Being "linked in" is normal. Glitching, or being unlinked, is anomalous. According to the code of the Community, anomalies may result in deactivation. Yep. Death!
Now, Zoe is a glitcher in a crowd of drones, trying to appear like she isn't full on freaking out. And, on top of glitching in and out of the Link, Zoe discovers she has the power of telekinesis. The journey of Zoe learning how to control her telekinesis was probably the coolest part of the book. It was really powerful and I thought the author, Heather Anastasiu, did a wonderful job capturing all the emotions that are raging through Zoe. Going through the process of learning what emotions are and what words correspond to different feelings is something Zoe struggles with constantly. Being human and having a free mind and so many conflicting emotions causes a lot of turmoil for her. It is an amazing arc.
The character development throughout this novel was stellar. I was always on my toes trying to figure out the different characters, their motivations, if they were lying, etc... All signs of a perfect read!
5 stars to Glitch!!
