Everlasting Angie Frazier Books
Oh was I ever surprised by Everlasting!! I was very skeptical of what this story would produce, I thought it would be a typical historical or fantasy but Everlasting was anything but typical to me. There is a young-girl who loves to sail the seas with her father William and his handsome and distracting first-mate Oscar. She embarks on her last voyage on the sea before she gets married to Randall and that trip changes her life forever.Angie Frazier has completely peaked my interest in YA Fantasy novels like this. I haven't read any novels that are similar to this one or ones that had so much adventure in it that I actually enjoyed. Usually I'm not big on adventures but I was hooked from chapter 1. There is magic, adventure, an enchanted map, danger, and delicious romance that makes this series a must read! It's hard to categorize this as paranormal romance, historical or fantasy - it had the best of all genres.
The characters are genuine and likeable; Camille is so determined, caring and adventurous plus her issues of the heart are so realistic. I connected with Camille instantly and she tugged on my heart with all the struggles she faced. Then there is Oscar, he is sarcastic, manly, protective and very supportive of Camille which made him a strong hero that grabbed you in to the story. The secondary characters are all great too, Ira was so humorous and I loved how he called Camille "love" all the time.
The adventure is so unique, I really wasn't sure what was going to happen next and I was surprised every step of the way. Once I picked up Everlasting, I couldn't put it down, even at the times where I wanted to cry and give up I just couldn't.
The romance is so sweet and enchanting yet it doesn't take away from the adventure at all. The romance is clean and the language is clean and I would highly recommend this book to YA readers! I will be grabbing book 2 here soon!

Everlasting Angie Frazier Books Reviews
At the end-of-2010 survey, I chose this book as the best cover of the books I read in 2010, so I thought I ought to review it as well.
It is a historical and also a fantasy novel, and I think it is a YA book, but it is read very pleasantly by an adult, too. It is mainly a mystery story, with a good dose of adventure and romance. It has a few dark points too, related to dark magic in the depths of the Australian desert, but these mostly confused me instead of making the book darker and more gripping.
The story is this a girl goes on a trip to Australia, boarding the same ship with the boy she is in love with, and who is working in the ship, in search of adventure and answers, hoping to postpone her arranged marriage back home. Due to something mysterious along the way, she is left fatherless and ship-wrecked on an Australian shore, looking for her long-list mother and running for her life. With her is the boy she loves, Oscar, and danger seems to be able to unite them in contrast to their different social status that separated them back home.
This plot sounded fascinating to say the least, but for me this book didn't exactly deliver. It had its moments, of course, romantic moments and moments full of suspence, but overall it was a bit confusing. The book built up for a grand finale in the last pages, and maybe there were a lot of loose ends to be wrapped up. In result, the end seemed contrived and I was still left with a few questions hanging.
Other than that however, the book was enjoyable and a quite pleasant read, so overall I would resommend it. It just didn't wow me like I thought it would

Everlasting is a book that takes place in 1855 San Francisco to Australia. It was really different from most historical fiction books I've read. Everlasting was filled with so much adventure and excitement.
Camille Rowen is a 17 year old girl, growing up in high society San Francisco, who is set to marry a man she doesn't care for, but she feels it's her duty for her family. That all changes when she sets voyage one last time with her father, who she looses in a tragic storm. Having read a letter she discovers all these secrets her father had kept from her and finds a map that leads to a stone that could possibly bring her father back. With her father's first ship mate, Oscar Kildare, and a con-man, Ira Beam she goes in search of the magical stone. Camille sets out on a quest in order to bring her father back, but it's much more difficult than she expected since she's not the only one in search of the stone's power.
I found all the characters to be quite multi layered. Camille was one of those girls who just does whatever is asked of her even though it's not something she truly wants, just to please her father. By the end, she was so much stronger and a different person than she was in the beginning. I really admired her strength and determination, especially after all the hardships she faced in so little amount of time. Oscar was an awesome love interest and had some struggles and secrets of his own. Their relationship kind of reminded me of Elizabeth Swan and Will Turner from Pirates of the Carribean. Con man, Ira Beam was my favorite. I thought he was kind of "Ughh," at first and a stereotypical con man, but surprisingly he grew on me and was quite lovable à la Jack Sparrow. He also provided some comic relief to the story which was fun. There's a few more characters as well, that I'm not going to spoil since they were a surprising twists to the story.
Everlasting could be a stand alone book, but it did set up perfectly for a sequel. I'm really hoping there's more to come because I wouldn't mind going on another quest with Camille and Oscar, of course, con man Ira, as well. I would definitely recommend Everlasting even to those who aren't fans of historical fiction. There's romance, adventure, magic, lovable characters, and of course the mean and dangerous villains.
